a trip to bangkok would not be complete without going on a cruise along the chao phraya river. so that's exactly what my friends and i did on our last day. our day cruise included a stop over at the grand palace as well as a side trip along the klongs (canals or esteros), which i will be featuring in my next post. here are some pics of the views you can see along the river.
the wat arum or the temple of the dawn (doesn't the temple of the dawn have a nice ring to it? :D)
take a look at the vastness of the river

i best like the wat arum temple in this set. i like how high it stands.
ReplyDeleteNice shots and the river seems quite wide. Truly an exotic city. :)
ReplyDeleteNice sceneries my friend. I have always wanted to visit that country... at the mo, Thai resto na lang ako muna.
ReplyDeleteThat temple is amazing!
ReplyDeleteImpressive buildings along the river...
ReplyDeleteObviously a fine boat trip. I enjoyed seeing these spectacular looking buildings and places along your route. Fine post.
We just don't have any respect for our rivers.
ReplyDeleteganda ng ng wat arun pag sunset...the first time i went to bangkok, turista kami...second time ako na naging tour guide...third time gusto ko sa chiang mai na :P
ReplyDeletethe dong: true. isn't it majestic? =)
ReplyDeletepanaderos: and what a city it is. everywhere you look, it screams culture. =) thanks =)
kris jasper: hehehe at least kahit paano nafi-feel mo ang thailand sa thai resto :D salamat friend =)
luke: yup, it's very amazing =)
sidney: really impressive. i enjoyed looking around a lot while on the boat =) welcome back!!!!! =)
don: i agree. and there's nothing like a good scenery while cruising along the river =) thanks =)
ReplyDeleteLooks like a healthy river they have! Thanks for sharing your travel pics, Carla!
ReplyDeletePM: oo nga eh. sana ganito rin sa pasig no? =)
ReplyDeletelawstude: yup, ganda nga. naalala ko yung post mo tungkol din sa night cruise maganda rin sya. kung makapunta ako next time sa bangkok sana matry ko naman yung night cruise =)
manila photojournalism: yup, they do have a really healthy river. you're welcome, senor! =)
Oo, Thailand! I've yet to visit that country and it seems interesting. Anyway, sorry for not dropping by here often. I've not been able to surf the net b/c I was busy back home. Hehe!
ReplyDeleteMusta na ate?
;)
this is one of the reasons why, when i am in bangkok, i see to it that i stay at the ShangriLa Hotel. they have boats that can take you around the Chao Phraya river, for free, you can get on and off in any of the docking points. they also have a river cruise, with a sumptuous dinner.
ReplyDeleteif only we could convert our pasig river to something like this...though i heard that there is already a river cruise along pasig river?
kyels: thailand is really one interesting country. hope you can visit it one day =) anyways, no probs about it. i take it you're taking a breather =) ok lang ako, salamat. ikaw?
ReplyDeletesexy mom: oh yes, i've seen shangri-la's boats as well as peninsula's. grabe, i hope i can ride one of those someday. =) yup there's a ferry service along the pasig already which started last year. i have high hopes for that one, that it'll be something like the cruises along chao phraya. =)
When I first visit Bangkok I found that I can see Temples everywhere, especially during the tour of the Chao Phraya River. I've saw the real lifes of people living on both sides of the river, It's a heart warming experience for me. One things to remember: when visiting temples, show respect to the Buddha, and the monks. Take off your shoes before entering into the hall and don't wear shorts or tank tops in temples.
