Kiong Hee Huat Chai!

I was supposed to post a picture of me taken with a lion here. But since my family and I arrived in Binondo so late on Sunday, there wasn't anything left except for all the unsold boxes of tikoy on the sidewalk and pieces of firecracker paper left over from the previous day's festivities. (Man, it was actually on Saturday and not Sunday as I thought.)
At any rate, we ate at Mr. Ube's latest resto in Ongpin, where different kinds of noodles and rice dishes are on the menu. Here's what we ordered: maki (pa), Singaporean Laksa (mum), beef noodle soup (bro) and beef sate (moi).
Everything was delicious, if not a tad oily. I just could not finish mine as it was sooooooo spicy. Think: red face.
It was in Mr. Ube's that they offered to take free pictures of their customers with the lion in front of the restaurant with a minimum purchase of P300. Oh, I was so excited at the prospect of having a Chinese New Year souvenir but before we even finished our food, the guys who took the picture already hid the lion.
Aww, shucks.
Well, there's still next year. And I'll make sure to go to Chinatown on the eve. Take lots of pictures, too!
Oh, well...
